Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! 2007 has been a great year at the Hughes' household. We visited Vermont in January and all skiied together as a family. Joshua picked it up quickly, Daniel raced down the mountain each time, and Mary Ashleigh was cool on her snowboard.

We finally finished the addition on the house and have been enjoying our new family room every since!

Mashy (Joshua's nickname for Mary Asheigh) and Susan went to Belize with the PCC mission team over Spring Break. They worked hard each day on the 100 degree temps to build a church and hold a sports camp for children. Brian and Susan returned to Belize later in the summer to celebrate the building dedication with Calvary Baptist Church.
The summer was full of trips to the beach (with the Payne family to Myrtle Beach, with our small group to Nags Head, and with the Hughes family to Virginia Beach). In between those trips we managed several excursions to the river tubing and water skiing with friends and the staff from PCC.
This fall was our first time that all 3 kids were in sports at the same time! Mashy was running Cross Country for her school (and made the all-conference team). Daniel played soccer on the middle school team at school, and Joshua played soccer in Powhatan with Brian as the coach! Brian and Susan did a lot of cheering!

All the kids are doing a lot of growing: Mashy is studying hard her senior year in hopes to head to VA Tech next fall. Daniel is going through about 3-5 books a week and really enjoying being a part of the youth group at church. He is taller than Mashy now (and reminds her of that often). Joshua is becoming a good reader in 1st grade and loves playing any kind of sport outside when he gets home from school.
Our entire family has become addicted to the Wii. It's a new interactive video game system. Old and young alike can compete with each other. Our favorite games are tennis, bowling, and of course golf. We have quite a few "pros" in the family now, however some of the adults (BRIAN) are soar losers when beaten by the children. :)
Brian's last grandparent, affectionately known as "Momo" (his mother's mother), passed this fall. We are saddened but also celebrate her homegoing and are consoled knowing there was a glorious reunion in heaven that day.
PCC celebrated its groundbreaking in November and we are all anxious to see that building go up soon!
If you haven't seen our new addition yet, we would love for you to visit. We are enjoying the pool table and the extra room!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
